Pablo Israel Vázquez Rodríguez has formally initiated activities as the new president of the Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios (AMPI) (Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals), a position he will hold until December 31, 2019. Elected within the framework of AMPI’s 47th National Congress, held in Oaxaca, Vázquez will provide continuity to the work done by Alejandro Kuri, who served in this position during 2018. Likewise, 10 new directors joined the organization’s board.
During his career, Vázquez has held other positions within AMPI, having served as director of the Zamora chapter (Michoacán) and as national vice president during the previous term.
During his first days as president, he said that one of his main objectives at the head of the association is to expedite the Ley de Prestación de Servicios Inmobiliarios (Provision of Real Estate Services Law) before Mexico’s Congress. “What this federal legislation will do is to standardize state laws, so that there is just one regulation on issues of licensing, certification and professionalization requirements,” he explained. “The investor, the owner and the developer all win with a federal law. Those of us who dedicate ourselves to this task need to be collegial.”
Additionally, Vázquez announced that there is an AMPI expansion plan that consists of moving from 80 to almost 200 chapters throughout the country and increasing MLS listings, which today stand at around 100,000 properties.
During the ceremony to install the new AMPI president, it was announced that San Luis Potosí will host the Congreso Nacional AMPI 2019, which will be held from October 16 to 19.
