When it comes to choosing where to go shopping in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, both destinations offer ample possibilities to both residents and visitors. Distinguished by the types of products and services they offer and the markets they target, several centers or areas with high commercial activity around the bay have gained prominence in the minds of shoppers.
Be it commercial plazas, self-service chains, craft markets, tianguis or distinct areas with a large business presence, the objective is always the same: to be closer or more visible to potential customers. In terms of location, it is better for a business to be near other establishments that share the same market segment, as this generates more traffic that can be tapped.
In addition to the previous examples, there are so-called “commercial corridors” in the region, a groups of establishments along a street, which does not necessarily have an anchor business. Some have established their success over the years, while others have aroused interest because of their charm.

Olas Altas Street
One of the most famous streets in Puerto Vallarta, Olas Altas represents the heart of the Romantic Zone. Home to restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, entertainment venues, real estate agencies, pharmacies and ecotourism companies, among others, its proximity to hotels, condominiums and vacation rental properties makes it an excellent choice for all businesses geared to the foreign market.
Basilio Badillo Street
Similar to Olas Altas, over the years this corridor has developed into one of the busiest, among its distinguishing attributes the presence of art galleries and boutiques offering handicrafts, clothes and accessories.
The Malecón
What business would not want to be located along one of Puerto Vallarta’s most emblematic attractions? Restaurants, bars, boutiques, nightclubs, souvenir shops, jewelers and traditional art galleries are all found along this scenic mile.
San Marino Plaza
Designed as a corridor on Fluvial Vallarta Avenue, this shopping center opened in 2014, generating increased flow through the area, mainly of local residents. Its anchor business a popular restaurant-bar, it also offers other dining options, a CrossFit and a cafeteria, among other services.
Although Fluvial Vallarta Avenue has not been completely populated with businesses, their presence is more and more noticeable, a portent that it could become a major corridor in the near future.
Nima Shops
Part of the Nima Bay Marina Flats and Shops Vallarta development, this corridor is located on Popa Street, in Marina Vallarta. Especially at night, it is a popular meeting place for enthusiasts of the culinary scene, its offering of restaurants and bars bringing vibrancy to the area and contributing to its resurgence as one of the main attractions in the North Hotel Zone.
Lázaro Cárdenas Street (Bucerías, Nayarit)
The main avenue of Bucerías, in Riviera Nayarit, offers an intriguing variety of décor boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, real estate agencies, convenience stores and water activity providers. Parallel to the coast and just a block from the beach, it also features some of the town’s major real estate developments.
El Anclote (Punta de Mita, Nayarit)
The most traditional shopping area in the northern part of our destination is home to some of the area’s most celebrated gourmet restaurants. In addition, it is surrounded by tourist service providers and real estate agencies, which are indispensable to the area.
