According to INEGI’s 38th National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) for the first quarter of 2023, Puerto Vallarta is once again among the top 10 safest cities in Mexico.

They emphasize that this result has been achieved thanks to the joint work of the state, federal and local governments, which have organized and joined forces to guarantee peace of mind for residents and visitors alike.

Nationally, Puerto Vallarta ranks ninth among the cities with the highest percentage of perceived safety, and is the only safest city in Jalisco listed in the INEGI survey:

  1. San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León – 18.3
  2. Benito Juárez, CDMX – 19.4
  3. Piedras Negras, Coahuila – 19.9
  4. Los Cabos, Baja California Sur – 22.7
  5. Saltillo, Coahuila – 23.9
  6. Tampico, Tamaulipas – 24.1
  7. Mérida, Yucatán – 24.2
  8. Los Mochis, Sinaloa – 24.9
  9. Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco – 26.5
  10. Cuajimalpa de Morelos, CDMX – 27.7

Over the years, our city has implemented various security strategies to reinforce its commitment to the safety of its citizens:

  • There are 12 Visitor Attention Modules, where bilingual experts can assist visitors in all circumstances.
  • In the Restaurant and Hotel Zone, a large team of trained tourist police is available to assist visitors.

The ENSU is carried out on a quarterly basis and, for this edition, more than 27,000 households from 75 Mexican cities participated in the study.

Our destination has remained as a safe city, where residents and visitors can live together in harmony.
