Puerto Vallarta International Airport has experienced an outstanding 170 percent growth between 2011 and 2023, according to data compiled by the Grupo Aeroportuario del PacÃfico (GAP).
In 2011, the airport welcomed 2.5 million passengers and by 2019, this figure had risen to over 5 million. 2020 and part of 2021 presented significant challenges with declining passenger numbers, but 2022 marked a triumphant return with 6.2 million passengers.
The positive trend continued in 2023, further consolidating the airport’s position as a key entry point for visitors. In that year, Puerto Vallarta recorded nearly 6.8 million passengers.
This growth trend has led GAP to make strategic decisions to ensure service efficiency. It is estimated that Terminal 2 of this airport will be completed by 2024, ensuring an optimal travel experience for passengers.
This dizzying increase demonstrates the firm position of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit as destinations increasingly positioned in the tastes of national and international visitors.
Expectations for 2024 are very positive, consolidating Puerto Vallarta International Airport as a key driver of tourism and real estate activity in the region. This achievement also highlights the airport’s ability to adapt and grow in the midst of challenges.
