Carlos Lemus, president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI) in Riviera Nayarit, has announced that they are working on an initiative to issue a real estate license backed by the State of Nayarit. This aims to promote the professionalization of the sector.

Last year, with the approval of the Ley que Regula la Prestación de Servicios Inmobiliarios en Jalisco (Law Regulating the Provision of Real Estate Services in Jalisco), a crucial step was taken to ensure legal security in real estate transactions in this region. In fact, this legislation aims to prevent fraud, improve the professionalization of real estate agents, and establish a registry of professionals in the sector. The regulation corresponding to this law has been ready since mid-February 2024. “Although this represents a great start, I believe it is necessary to make its application mandatory,” explains Lemus.

In Nayarit, AMPI is collaborating with the Tepic, Riviera Nayarit, and Compostela sections to promote an initiative that guarantees the issuance of a real estate license backed by the state government. This license would be an essential requirement for those wishing to work in the real estate sector of the region.

“We are in the early stages of this project and are seeking the support of deputies to push our initiative forward. This real estate license is fundamental to ensuring safety and professionalization in our industry.” —Carlos Lemus, president of AMPI Riviera Nayarit.

Their goal is to make real estate transactions safer and more transparent for everyone involved in the process.
