11th International Architecture Congress Held

The Sociedad Mexicana de Interioristas (SMI) (Mexican Society of Interior Designers) held the 11th edition of the Congreso Internacional de Interiorismo y Arquitectura (International Congress of Interior Design and Architecture), an event endorsed by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers, considered among the most important in Latin America.

The three-day event was held at the Hotel Fiesta Americana in Puerto Vallarta, where important figures in the industry gathered to talk about their experiences, new trends and avant-garde materials. Among them were interior designers Victoria Plasencia and Pedro Solaegui (Guadalajara); Aurelio Vázquez, Nadja Borras and Paulina Morán (Mexico City); Filipao Nunes (Portugal); Marc Ange (France); and Christopher Guy (London). In addition, landscaper Fausto Reyes (Los Angeles) and architect Jaime Barba (Guadalajara) were among the roster of special guests.

Attendees had the opportunity to visit the event’s exhibition area, where suppliers such as Distribuidora Orli, USG Tableros Arquitectónicos and Elegancia Textil Hotelera (ETH) displayed their products and services. Also, during the congress, the 10th edition of the Concurso Inter-Universitario de Interiorismo (Inter-University Interior Design Competition) was held, geared to students in the final semesters of said degree.

 

Among best-received speakers was Victoria Plasencia, an interior designer who recently remodeled the facilities of the Hotel Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta and has a portfolio focused on residential and commercial projects.
