New Construction Regulations Approved in Puerto Vallarta

During an ordinary session of city hall, the Reglamento de Construcción y Normas Técnicas del Municipio de Puerto Vallarta (Construction Regulations and Technical Standards) were approved by an absolute majority, which will lead to better regulation of the city’s urban development.

The opinion was presented by Gilberto Lorenzo Rodríguez, president of the Comisión de Ordenamiento Territorial (Commission of Territorial Regulation), who noted that the document was created with the contributions of the members of the Comisión Edilicia de Reglamentos y Puntos Constitucionales (Municipal Commission of Regulations and Constitutional Points), Dirección de Planeación Urbana y Ecología Municipal (Direction of Urban Planning and Municipal Ecology), local associations of architects and engineers and structural specialists.

In this regard, Mayor Arturo Dávalos Peña acknowledged and appreciated the efforts made in this area and confirmed that it is the result of “intense work, analysis, discussions and agreements that will help regulate the buildings that are erected in the municipality.” In a previous work session, José Juárez Hernández, president of the Comisión de Legislación y Trámites (Legislation and Procedures Commission) and member of the Colegio de Ingenieros Civiles de Puerto Vallarta (Association of Civil Engineers), highlighted the importance of this update, since it will encourage growth in line with the Programa Nacional de Desarrollo Urbano 2014-2018 (National Urban Development Program).

Along with this construction regulation, the Reglamento de la Comisión Municipal de Directores Responsables y Peritos en Supervisión de Puerto Vallarta (Regulation of the Municipal Commission of Responsible Directors and Experts in Supervision) was also approved.
