1st National Congress of Cadastres and Public Registries

From October 2 to 4, 2019, the Paradise Village Resort & Spa in Nuevo Vallarta was the venue for the Primer Congreso Nacional de Catastros y Registros Públicos (First National Congress of Cadastres and Public Registries), which brought together more than 80 directors of the country’s cadastral and registry institutes, as well as speakers and personalities from the real estate sector.

This first edition included the participation of Ricardo López Rivera, president of the Instituto Mexicano de Catastro (INMECA) (Mexican Cadastre Institute); Griselda Martínez Vázquez, general coordinator of registry and cadastral modernization for the Secretaría de Desarrollo Agrario, Territorial y Urbano (SEDATU) (Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development); Antonio Echeverría, governor of the state of Nayarit; and Jaime Cuevas, mayor of Bahía de Banderas.

Over three days, diverse keynote speeches, presentations, work groups and debates were held, where different perspectives and points of view were aired with respect to the new strategies that are planned to be implemented in the renewal of the cadastre and public registry, in order to optimize the management of public resources throughout the country.

In addition, valuation specialists provided training on land regularization to the representatives of the country’s 32 federal entities, with the aim of promoting better land-use planning and providing legal security that guarantees greater certainty to potential investors.
