MexLaw Arrives in Riviera Nayarit

Having established itself as one of the most prestigious and sought after law firms in the Quintana Roo area, MexLaw arrives in Vallarta · Nayarit to offer its services and legal assistance to all foreigners who decide to establish their new home or business in our region.

Founded in 2014 by CEO Charles Tibshirani, MexLaw is a Mexican law firm owned and operated by licensed Canadian and US lawyers that have partnered with Mexican lawyers.

With an experienced team of 28 lawyers in six offices (Quebec, Playa del Carmen, Cancun, Tulum, San Miguel de Allende and now Nuevo Vallarta), MexLaw belongs to the bar associations of Quebec and Canada, guaranteeing clients total legal accountability, as well as products and services that meet internationally recognized standards.

Tibshirani, a Canadian lawyer with more than 35 years of experience in international operations and proven experience in real estate transactions, condominium administration and general co-ownership law, founded MexLaw in response to a personal experience. In 2012, when he decided to move to Playa del Carmen with his family and open a business, he realized that foreigners interested in living, working or acquiring property in Mexico were not adequately assisted or guided.

Tibshirani explains the three reasons a foreigner should consider this Mexican-Canadian firm to carry out transactions:

“The first reason is that we are a professional organization, legally bound to the official bar associations in Canada. The second reason is that we are experts in transactions with foreigners, be it a real estate, commercial or immigration matter. We know how to deal with them, know their needs and expectations and not only offer a service, but fully professional advice, guiding them through every step of any process, telling them what needs to be done and how to do it. And the third reason is because we love Mexico; we are not here just to do business. We believe in Mexico and what we offer. We always tell clients that they are making an excellent decision by investing in this country.”

The new office, located in Nuevo Vallarta, is headed by María del Carmen Macías, lawyer-director for the Puerto Vallarta – Riviera Nayarit area, who says that the firm decided to expand to this region due to the influx of clients requesting legal services in both destinations. “For this reason, we decided to open offices in an intermediate location. However, we cover both areas, so an expansion to Puerto Vallarta is on the horizon.”

As in their other offices, available services include:

· Real estate law and closing services, advising the client during the process of buying real estate in Mexico, including negotiating and reviewing offers, title searches, drafting agreements and title guarantees.

· General legal services, commercial, business and corporate law.

· Immigration services: management of the client’s immigration status, primarily for foreigners who intend to reside or work in Mexico and Mexicans who want to travel abroad.

· Escrow service: MexLaw has a segregated account, guaranteeing security in each transaction.

Regarding their most requested services, Macías says that clients contact MexLaw because they plan to purchase a property in Mexico and want to know what requirements they must meet, both immigration and legal, to fulfill their investment dream.

She adds, “Clients come primarily because they know they are with an expert law firm, which will resolve their questions and concerns promptly and with the professional treatment they expect and deserve. We offer transparency and the certainty of concluding your business successfully. We work with both the client and the people involved in closings, as we understand that in the purchase and sale of a property there are always two parties to consider—buyer and seller—and that we must work hand in hand with their agents and/or advisers, so we provide security not only to our client in the acquisition of a property, but also those involved in the business.”

Escrow is another of the most requested services. These bank accounts supervised by third parties (MexLaw in this case) are used mainly in real estate and commercial transactions, stipulating payment under certain terms and conditions. The buyer makes the payment into this account (MexLaw’s is in Montreal, Canada), assuring both parties that the money is protected and will only be delivered in accord with the conditions prescribed in the contract. In addition, MexLaw’s escrow account allows clients to make payment in US or Canadian dollars.

The new MexLaw office is located on the third floor of the Nuevo Vallarta Plaza & Business Center, in office 302-B. For more information, call (322) 297-6708 (local), (844) 846-1730 (from USA) and (866) 438-0219 (from Canada), email info@mexlaw.ca or visit mexlaw.ca.
